More Enviroschool recognition

Today I had the pleasure of accompanying, Stephen Eames, our senior teacher from the senior school, and five children - Freya, Franscesca, Kate, Emily and Lulu to the Wellington Regional Council Environmental Awards in the city. We were very pleased to receive two awards - the Miro award for the work that the Enviroschool group has done in sustainable waste management and the Kahikatea award for Stephen to reward him for his leadership in affirming our environmental strategy at the school. The judges were very strong in their praise of both Stephen and the children and commented on the fact that the children passionately shared their processes with the judges indicating that the model of recycling was very much a sustainable process. We received two Miro trees, two certificates for the Envirowall and $500 for each category. I have many things to be proud of at Muritai School and external rewards are nice recognition for the hard work that our environmental children have put in in such a short time as we head towards our Gold award at Enviroschools.
